FirstBlog

I have been asked to keep a blog because of ICT homework. I am meant to continue blogging afterwards as well. Blog is short for "web-log". Blogging first started in the early 1990s as online diaries. In the spring of 1999 an online journal author called Peter Merholz split the word WebLog into We Blog. Very soon after the word blog became a nickname for weblog. Later on in the year a new invention came up. This was RSS (Really Simple Syndication) which enabled people to subscribe to blogs as well as distributing them to other websites such as Dave Winer's Radio UserLand which was an early form of aggregator. The term "weblog" was coined by
In 2001 big name bloggers including Andrew Sullivan and Glenn Reynolds came on to the scene. Then in 2002 with the Launch of Technorati, one of the earliest blog search engines, people were able to follow blog conversations on an never ending basis.

In 2003 Audioblogger was born. This allowed people to record messages on their phones and post them on their blog. Blogs began to be used by politicians to get their message across. The Iranian Vice President, Mohammed Ali Abitahi, published his blog before American politicians started to blog. Radio show host Christopher Lydon published mp3 audio files on the web using an RSS feed made by Dave Winer so that people could subscribe to them.
